Medical ventilators (or: resuscitators) are often based on a system with a ducted mechanical fan, also referred to as a “blower”. The blower used in such medical equipment is an actuator, driven by an electric motor and designed for accurate control of air pressure within a system, e.g., a patient. The desired magnitude of the pressure is a function of the motor speed or duty-cycle of the control signal for the motor. This desired magnitude of the pressure is relatively independent of the system in which the pressure is to be controlled.
